Warmest Holiday Greetings!
Please note that our office will be closed in conjunction with the Winter Break Reduced Operations policy announced by the University of Missouri this week, as well as a scheduled power outage. Therefore, the Office of International and Cultural Affairs will be closed as follows:
Wednesday, December 20, 2017 (due to scheduled power outage)
Friday, December 22, 2017, at 4:30 p.m. until Tuesday, January 2, 2018, at 8:00 a.m. (due to Winter Break Reduced Operations).
We apologize for any inconvenience these closings may cause. In case you need help or assistance, feel free to contact S&T Police – 24/7 at 573-341-4300. In the event of an emergency (examples include: severe medical condition, vehicle accident, etc.), dial 911. University Police will remain open and operational throughout the break, and if needed, will contact leadership members of the Office of International and Cultural Affairs in the event of an emergency.
We also encourage students to download the Rave Guardian App, available for free in the app store. Students can reach the non-emergency or emergency number with the touch of a button or through text message, and you don’t have to remember any phone numbers. Thank you.
Meeting Your Language Needs
Deepen your understanding of the English language and the American culture, and gain real-world preparation for life in the USA
For over 20 years, Missouri University of Science and Technology’s Applied Language Institute (ALI) has developed permanent, ongoing language programs for S&T's international community through the Intensive English Program (IEP). The mission of the IEP is to assist international students in attaining the proficiency level needed to meet language standards and promote a successful transition to academic programs.
We welcome you to learn more about our programs and how they can assist you in reaching your future goals.
Prospective IEP Students
We welcome new students each term. Here you can find information about admissions into the Intensive English Program, Immigration & Visas, and the steps to take when you arrive. If interested in learning more about the admission process, please contact us or see How to Apply. We look forward to welcoming you to our campus in the future and helping you achieve your English language goals.
Our international students are invited to participate in the following: Conversation Partners, International Student Advisory Council, International Education Week, and many others. For more than 6 years in a row, our signature event, Celebration of Nations, attracts more than 3,000 participants every September.
The Applied Language Institute (ALI) has received a five year accreditation from the Commission on English Language Accreditation (CEA) from April 2016 to April 2020. As an active support program for Missouri University of Science and Technology, the Applied Language Institute participates in Missouri S&T’s accreditation process through the Higher Learning Commission, a Commission of the North Central Association of College and Schools.
