To be admitted to the Missouri S&T Applied Language Institute, the prospective student must submit the following items at least eight weeks prior to the anticipated program enrollment date.

When admitted to the Applied Language Institute, the student will receive a letter of acceptance and an I-20 (Certification of Eligibility), if required. Instructions for use of the I-20 and details about the required New International Student Orientation will be included with the admissions packet.
Admission Requirements:
Students interested in applying for the Intensive English Program should be eligible for college studies. This means that you should have completed high school with grades that meet the requirements of your prospective college program. The IEP program is for individuals for whom English is not their native language.
Applying for a Student Visa:
Review this Department of State website for information on obtaining a visa.
The Department of State has created a brochure Getting a Visa which has good instructions for obtaining a student visa. Prospective students who have questions about obtaining a visa for language studies may contact a staff member of the International Affairs office for more information.
English Testing
Students who are granted conditional Missouri S&T academic admission are tested by the ALI faculty to assess their English language proficiency levels and placed either in classes in the Intensive English Program or in full/part-time academic courses according to the results of the placement testing. English language placement testing is mandatory for all international students who have not satisfied Missouri S&T's English language proficiency requirements.
Health Insurance
All non-immigrant international students are required to enroll in the mandatory international student health insurance program selected by the University of Missouri System.
Housing
All Missouri S&T freshmen and sophomores must reside in Missouri S&T housing. For further information on the Missouri S&T Residence Halls please refer to link
