Financial Requirements

Bank certification is required for an international student to receive an I-20; an I-20 is required before a student can apply for a visa.  Please obtain verification of your finances and send it to the following address immediately by mail or fax.  This will help our staff issue your I-20 and application in a timely manner.  If you have questions, let us know.  You can ask questions by fax, letter, e-mail or phone.

If you are applying for our programs and you are currently in the United States, you must provide bank statements that cover 60 consecutive days within the past twelve months.

You must demonstrate that you will be able to pay for all costs for an academic year.  Estimated expenses for the Intensive English Program for Fall 2009 through Spring 2010 (a nine month period) are $21,719.*   These fees are reflected on the front page.

If you or your parent(s)are paying for your education, please submit a bank statement in your name or your parents’ name(s) showing the balance that is at least equal to the amount required ($21,719).  You must prove that you have enough funds to support you for nine months of study in the Intensive English Program.

If someone other than you or your parents is supporting your costs of education, please submit a bank statement or certification in the amount required (a minimum of $21,719). This bank statement must have the name of the person who is supporting your education.  You must submit a notarized statement from the individual supporting you that details the length of time and amount of funding of his/her support for your education in the Intensive English Program.

If you are supported by an agency or sponsor, please ask the sponsor to submit official documentation detailing their support and contact information so that we can obtain specific details regarding their sponsorship.

Please note that financial and support documentation must be accurate.  All financial statements must be dated within six months of you submitting your application for the Intensive English Program & Applied Language Institute. Please review bank statement to see a copy of a sample bank statement.
