Admission to the Applied Language Institute

To be admitted to the Missouri S&T Intensive English Program (IEP) of the Applied Language Institute (ALI), the prospective student should complete and submit the application at least eight weeks prior to the anticipated program enrollment date.  There are different notes below depending if you will hold an F-1, F-2, B-1, or B-2 visa, or are a permanent resident, or are transferring from another school to the S&T IEP.

  • Admission to the Intensive English Program does not imply or guarantee eligibility or admission to other programs or courses of study at Missouri S&T.
  • If students wish to take undergraduate or graduate courses at the University, they must complete all the required steps for admission to Missouri S&T.
  • All students who are admitted to the S&T IEP must demonstrate competency in their communication skills as well as their ability to function well in an academic environment by completing the language proficiency evaluation.

If you are in the United States on an F-2 visa, you are only allowed to enroll part-time (10 credit hours) in the Intensive English Program.
