Admission to IEP

To be admitted to the Missouri S&T Intensive English Program, the prospective student should submit the following checklist items at least eight weeks prior to the anticipated program enrollment date.  There are different checklists below depending if you will hold an F-1, F-2, B-1, or B-2 visa, or are a permanent resident, or are transferring from another school to the S&T IEP.

    1. COMPLETE THE ALI APPLICATION.
    2. Submit copies of transcripts (worksheets) from high school or college attended or graduated from. Note: If you hope to be a first-time college freshman after completing the language program, you must submit your complete secondary education transcripts for all completed courses (a minimum of 3 years of high school transcripts).  Admissible students will be in the top 20% of their grade level and have A’s and B’s in degree-related coursework. IEP admissions staff will review all grades carefully to make sure that prospective undergraduate students meet this requirement.
    3. Make a copy of your passport information page as well as copies of any immediate family members who will accompany you.
    4. Send a certified bank statement verifying that sufficient funds are available for the duration of the IEP period. Please see the information about the tuition cost on the 2016-2017 Cost Sheet. Also, please review the requirements for the financial statement here: Sample Bank Statement
    5. Pay the $50.00 non-refundable application fee.

Important Notes

  • Admission to the Intensive English Program does not imply or guarantee eligibility or admission to other programs or courses of study at Missouri S&T.
  • If students wish to take undergraduate or graduate courses at the University, they must complete all the required steps for admission to Missouri S&T.
  • All students who are admitted to the S&T IEP must demonstrate competency in their communication skills as well as their ability to function well in an academic environment by completing the language proficiency evaluation.

Important Notes

If you are in the United States on an F-2 visa, you are only allowed to enroll part-time (10 credit hours) in the Intensive English Program.

Important Notes

If you are in the United States on a B-1 (business) or B-2 (tourist) visa, you may study courses in the Intensive English Program that will improve your cultural experience in the USA.
